What is WATCH D.O.G.S.®?

 

WATCH D.O.G.S.® is a father and father-figure involvement program that brings positive male role models into schools to support students, teachers, and the school community.

 

The program has two primary goals:

 

• Provide positive male role models for students, demonstrating through their presence that education is important.

• Provide additional eyes and ears throughout the school, helping enhance school security, reduce bullying, and create a positive environment where students can focus on learning.

 

WATCH D.O.G.S.® volunteers serve under the direction of school administration and may participate one day or many days throughout the school year, depending on the needs of the school and the volunteer’s availability.

 

What Does a Cougar Den Volunteer Do?

 

There are many ways to get involved during the school day and throughout the year. Depending on the day’s activities and the needs of our school, volunteers may:

 

•  Read with students or assist with classroom activities

•  Help support teachers and staff

•  Participate in recess or lunch activities

•  Provide a positive presence throughout the school

•  Encourage and connect with students

•  Help monitor designated areas of the school

•  Support PTA and school events

•  Assist with special projects and activities

 

Volunteers may interact with their own children as well as other students, helping create a stronger connection between families and the school community.

Who Can Join the Cougar Den?

 

The Cougar Den welcomes dads, grandfathers, stepfathers, uncles, coaches, mentors, and other positive male role models who want to support Coventry Elementary students.

 

You don’t have to be a dad to make a difference. If you are a positive male role model who wants to be involved in our school community, there’s a place for you in the Cougar Den!
